The universe can be thought of as one living being

The universe can be thought of as  one living being, with every consciousness in it both contributing to it, and being nourished by it.  This means that the basic state of the universe is a wonderful state of natural cooperation in which every created consciousness is as important as every other.

There is a balance of rights operating in which all are considered.  When we are choosing what to do, we are aware at deep inner levels, of the effects of our actions on the whole universe.  By listening to our inner wisdom, we can choose actions which add to the fulfilment of all.

Sometimes people are absolutely sure they are doing the right thing, but they are not. They might even think they are being kind, or helpful, but still make a mistake.  This can happen because  they have not considered the wider impact of their actions.

We can’t get on with our busy lives if we always have to check what effect our actions will have on everyone else, but we can bear in mind that everyone and every animal, and every plant, and every other consciousness, has the same right to fulfilment as we do, and we have the same right to fulfilment as they do, and then any glaring mistakes will be more obvious to us.

With this in mind, we will not indulge in self-denial in order to be virtuous, giving others things we really need for ourselves, nor will we exploit other people, or animals, or the planet itself, taking what is good for us at the expense of others. Instead we will honour the balance of rights, and understand that the ‘law’ of natural cooperation is fulfilled if everyone wins.
